According exclusively to Variety, English actor Robert Pattinson who’s best known to casual movie fans as Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise, is in talks with Warner Bros. to play Bruce Wayne and the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves’s The Batman, that’s set to start pre-production this summer.

But with all that said, this is the closest to a legit casting news for the replacement of Ben Affleck as Batman, fans have received since Affleck walked away from the role earlier.

Affleck was also set to direct, but Reeves came along and replaced him after he stepped down from directing the movie back in January of 2017.

Pattinson at the moment is in the process of filming an event movie directed by fan favorite director Christopher Nolan’s of The Dark Knight trilogy, which is set to open next year on July 17th. But if fans are curious to see Pattinson in hist most recent work, he’s been in a total of four that opened this year High Life, The Lighthouse, The King and Netflix’s Waiting for the Barbarians.

The Batman set to release in theaters on June 25, 2021.
