Michael Rooker in Talks to Play King Shark in The Suicide Squad

According to The Wrap, actor Michael Rooker who’s best known to comic book fans as Merle Dixon in The Walking Dead and Yondu Udonta in Guardians of the Galaxy, is in talks with Warner Bros. to play King Shark in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

If Rooker is hired on to the role, this will be the second time he will work with Director James Gunn, as the two perviously worked together in the first and second installment to Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel Studios.

King Shark is a humanoid shark supervillain, who’s the God of all Sharks, who throughout the comics have became a member of the Secret Six, the Secret Society of Super-Villains and the Suicide Squad, which the litter has been in recent years since the New 52 comics.

Warner Bros. nor anyone attached to the movie or Rooker himself have confirmed this news or possible casting. The Suicide Squad will start production sometime this year in Fall.

The Suicide Squad releases in theaters on August 6th, 2021.
