Mark Hughes over at Forbes is reporting that he’s been hearing for weeks that Ben Affleck as Batman will be appearing in the Suicide Squad movie and the Batman solo film will be following closely to the storyline from The Dark Knight Returns comic book series at least in regards to the Joker coming from the Suicide Squad movie into the solo Batman film.
I’ve heard for weeks that Batman will appear in Suicide Squad, supposedly in an in-story scene, likely at the end of the film and focused on certain circumstances involving the Joker (which I won’t spoil here).
This would set up the Joker as a possible/likely antagonist in the solo Batman movie that’s planned in the next few years, and which I’ve heard will take some inspiration from Frank Miller’s comic book series The Dark Knight Returns — the third issue of which is a story about Batman facing off against an escaped Joker. I’m also told that Gotham City Police Commissioner Ellen Yindel (who replaces James Gordon during the comic book story) is planned for inclusion in the film.
If what this reports said is true and what was reporter on the plot points for the Suicide Squad to be true, we’re liking what we’re reading. But the truth is none of these reports haven’t been confirmed by anyone attached to the film or Warner Bros., it’s a rumor after all until it’s confirmed.
