Brec Bassinger who’s best known for starring the in the Nickelodeon series Bella and the Bulldogs, has been officially cast as Courtney Whitmore/ Stargirl for the DC Universe live action series for the streaming service Stargirl.
The series as descried is that it’ll follow high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore, who’s described as smart, athletic and kind, as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes, a recreation of the original superhero team, the Justice Society of America.
Stargirl creator Geoff Johns, who’s also a producer and helped writer the pilot had the following to say on Bassinger’s casting:
“There is no other character in comic books more special to me than Stargirl, and after searching far and wide I can say there is no other actor on the planet that embodies her more than Brec Bassinger. Brec’s warmth, strength, humor and positive energy are core to who Courtney Whitmore is. I’m so grateful she’s signed on for the role.”
No official premiere date has been announced for the series.
