Common Joins Suicide Squad

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar-winning rapper-turned-actor Common has officially closed a deal to join the cast of Suicide Squad, as an undisclosed character.

This come as a surprise to those who are familiar with Common’s past history with DC Comics, as he was set to play John Stewart (Green Lantern) in the Justice League movie Warner Bros. was working on back in 2006.

Common recently spoke on that role in a interview back in March and how he would love to get back into Green Lantern.

I would love if they… donno if they’re going with the John Stewart character you know, if so you know I would love to get back in the Green Lantern uniform. It was like, I was excited to do that. [Interviewer said Common should do the role] I would love it too, to be honest. John Stewart is a great character too, Green Lantern is a great superhero, so I would love to do that.

Now the question is, what character could he supposedly be playing in Suicide Squad, Black Manta, Black Spider, Bronze Tiger…possibly back as John Stewart? So many possibilities!
