As we previously reported, producer Walter Hamada was hired on to oversee DC Films, with the official title as President for DC Films Production.
The news was broke exclusively by Variety, which stated that both Jon Berg and Geoff Johns, who’s also the DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer were being replaced by Hamada, though Johns was going to stay as an adviser and work closely on production.
Now it’s being confirmed in a statement from Toby Emmerich, who’s the Warner Bros. President/Chief Content Officer, to Newsarama, that Geoff Johns will still remain as the co-head of DC Films.
“Walter is creative, resourceful, and committed to excellence, and will bring those qualities to his oversight of our superhero films,” said Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros.’ President/Chief Content Officer. “He’s a terrific production executive and served as an executive producer on two of the summer’s most popular films, New Line’s It and Annabelle: Creation. I’m confident Walter and Geoff, working with our filmmaking partners, will deliver films that will resonate with both broad global audiences as well as DC fanboys and fangirls. Walter’s a great addition to the Warner Bros. Pictures team, and I look forward to working with him in his new post.”
