According exclusively to Deadline, Henry Cavill is in talks with Warner Bros. to reprise his role as Superman in the DC Universe in a couple of different ways. What has not been disclosed is how, as at the moment a sequel to Zack Synder’s Man of Steel still isn’t development according to Deadline’s sources and James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984 have both wrapped.
Now it can be speculated he could be returning to do reshoots for the Snyder cut of Justice League for HBO Max or make cameos appearances in Black Adam, Shazam!, Aquaman 2 or The Flash, as they’re all going into production sometime next year.
Then there’s craziest of possible cameos and that’s in Matt Reeves’s The Batman, which we still haven’t received an official confirmed it’s not part of the same universe as the other DC movies, due to Ben Affleck playing Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, there’s the strong speculation that it’s not.
Regardless of where Cavill ends up dawning the cape, fans are just happy that he’ll be reprising his role, after so many false rumors that he was walking away from the role.
UPDATE:
Justin Kroll of Variety went on to confirm on Twitter that Cavill will only be returning for cameos for future DCEU movies.
Cavill’s return is only a cameo and would likely have him appearing in a film where he has previous ties with title character (AQUAMAN, SHAZAM). Sources say not for BLACK ADAM or WW. New MAN OF STEEL film still way off with no certainty Henry would return to star.
