According exclusively to Discussing Film, Joel Kinnaman who played Rick Flagg in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, will reprising his role for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, which at this point is clearly not a reboot as it was being reported, but a direct sequel to Ayer’s first installment.
With the news of Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang) and now Kinnamoan, there’s no denying that this will be a follow-up to Ayer’s first movie of the Task Force X. The Suicide Squad is set to go into production in Atlanta sometime in September, with James Gunn attached as writer and director.
Warner Bros. nor Kinnaman have confirmed this news, but we have a hard time believing it’s not true with the rate of how the other actor’s return conformation is going.
The Suicide Squad is set to release in theaters on August 6th, 2021.
