According to Deadline, Melissa McCarthy is finalizing a deal to star with Tiffany Haddish in the DC imprint Vertigo comic The Kitchen for New Line Cinema.
The movie will be a the drama, with Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton) at the helm as director and writer, making her the second female director for a DC adapted comic book, with Patty Jenkins being the first with Wonder Woman.
The Kitchen takes in New York City, late 1970s where an Irish gangs of Hell’s Kitchen rule the neighborhood, bringing terror to the streets and doing the dirty work for the Italian Mafia—but after the leaders are locked up in prison, it’s up to their wives to keep running the rackets. And once they get a taste of the fast life and easy money, it won’t be easy to stop.
At the moment the film doesn’t have an official release date or production start date.
