Shazam! struck lightning during its Fandango early access preview yesterday, as the movie officially grossed an impressive $3.3 million on the 1,200 screens it was shown on, beating the Atom and Amazon’s Warner Bros. preview of Aquaman that took place last year, which grossed an also impressive $2.9 million.
The current $3.3 million Shazam! has made from its preview won’t be included in its opening weekend numbers, which at the moment is still be projected to be around $50 million, but with its current Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the word of mouth for Shazam! can very well push the movie to open higher than what’s its being projected two weeks before its April 5th release date.
Shazam! directed by David F. Sandberg, starring Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Asher Angel, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews and Marta Milans.
