W. Earl Brown Cast As Hugo Root In Preacher

According to Deadline, W. Earl Brown (Deadwood) has been cast as Hugo Root in the AMC television pilot Preacher, that’s a live adaptation of the DC Comics Imprint Vertigo comic book series with the same name.

Brown will play Sheriff Hugo Root, the mean-hearted father of Eugene Root aka Arseface (Ian Colletti), a flinty-eyed, conspiracy-credulous redneck who is not a fool and has a vulnerability to him.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (This is The End, Neighbors, The Interview) are directing and as well as writing along with Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad), meanwhile James Weaver (This is The End, Neighbors, The Interview) will oversee the series.
