Zack Snyder Explains Why the Casting of Ben Affleck a No Brainer

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder recently spoke to People Magazine when he went on the defense as to why the casting of Ben Affleck was a no brainer for him and why Affleck is the prefect Batman, even though there was backlash to the casting.

“Casting Ben felt like a no brainer to me,” he explains. “I know that there was some backlash, but he’s just so perfect to me, especially in his size and his age. I’m sure once the fans discover it, they’ll feel the same way I do,” he adds. “He’s certainly got the chops for it, so I didn’t quite get the initial reaction.”

On talking the first promotional photo of Affleck as Batman next to the Batmobile, Snyder knew he was perfect:

“I took that picture of him next to the Batmobile,” he remembers. “When I looked at the back of the camera to see what it looked like, I was like, ‘Holy s—, that is ridiculously perfect.’ “
