Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder, in an interview with Canoe was asked on Man of Steel 2, which led to a responds that was somewhat of a contradiction, of what he has been quoted in the past.
His replied even caused the interviewer to note that a Superman sequel doesn’t sound like a high priority for DC.
So where does that leave Man of Steel 2 in the mix?
“I think in a way Batman v Superman is Man of Steel 2,” said Snyder, making it sound like a standalone Superman sequel is definitely not DC’s highest priority right now. “Justice League is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It’d be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be.”
This quote is interesting with all the crazy rumors swirling on the internet these days on Man of Steel 2. But at the same time both Henry Cavill, who plays Superman and Snyder have stated that Batman v Superman wasn’t a Man of Steel sequel in the past.
Either Snyder was misquoted or he misspoke, or it could be that he now after spending time with the film, editing it in post-production, he realizes that Batman v Superman is in fact more of a Superman film, as it does follow the aftermath of Man of Steel.
We can only assume what the quote means when it comes to the overall picture of what they have in store for Superman, his sequel and the never-ending rumors that follow it.
But an overreaction to this quote shouldn’t be one of the things we should do as fans.
