Early projections for Birds of Prey is reporting that the movie tracking for a opening weekend between $40 to $60 million at the domestic box office with a tracking by Forbes being set at $50 to $55 million for its opening, while Box Office Pro forecast the movie’s opening weekend at $49 million. If any of these numbers are correct, this will have a similar opening as Shazam! , which opened with $53 million with a PG-13 rating.
With a budget of $90 million, Birds of Pray making anything between $40 to $60 million as being reported by Box Office Pro, will make it a successful opening, as the movie is being released with a R rating attached to it, which clearly will limit the audience opening weekend.
Forbes also goes on to confirm that the movie will be the first box office block buster for the year, as no other movie thus far this year has opened or is projected to open close to what’s being tracked for Birds of Prey. The movie is also being reported by Forbes to likely having a a $125 million domestic cume overall, as they speculate it’ll have the same box office performance as of Shazam!, that’s if the review for Birds of Prey are as positive.
