Brenton Thwaites who plays the original Robin Dick Grayson recently spoke in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, in which he spoke on the famous line in the Titans official trailer where Robin says “F*ck Batman”, when a group of thugs mention the Dark Knight.
Many fans didn’t care for the line, while others kind of didn’t mind it. Thwaites goes on to explain that the line wasn’t originally part of the scene, that it was later added on to give the show its tone, which is that the show isn’t about Batman, but a show about the Titans.
“We’d already shot that alley fight scene before, and there was no punch to it,”Thwaites tells the trade. “There was no real exclamation mark. I think the producers wanted something that would kind of set the tone for the whole show.
It’s a show that isn’t about Batman, and I think it’s important for people to know that and maybe not be disappointed that they’re not going to see Batman jumping from the ceiling and beating up a hundred guys, because it’s not Batman, it’s a story about the Titans, essentially. I feel like ‘F— Batman’ says that in two words.”
Titans premieres October 12th on DC Universe.
