Everyone knows that DC’s Petty Dabbler won’t stay in Hell for long. That’s right folks, fan favorite Matt Ryan will reprise his role as the infamous John Constantine once again in 2018, and in more ways than one.
First, Constantine will feature in his own animated series on CW Seed sometime in 2018 (no exact release date announced). As with the previous Vixen and the upcoming Freedom Fighters: The Ray animated series, Constantine will fall within DCTV’s Arrow-verse continuity.
And that’s not all; it looks like he’ll be back in (live) action, rejoining DCTV’s Arrow-verse, as a recurring character on DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow. Though the news of the animated series was officially announced at NYCC, the news of his live action return rather flew under the radar, as only a few outlets pocked up the story at first.
According to showrunner Andrew Kriesberg, this has been in the works for quite some time, and now the stars have finally aligned. It sounds as though Constantine will be performing exorcisms for at least two episodes of Legends this coming season. Hopefully this leads to more appearances, especially as a series regular. Further, there were story beats and characters from his cancelled NBC show, that many fans would love to see brought over all well.
