Dwayne Johnson who’s playing Black Adam in the DC Extended Universe, confirmed in an interview for Yahoo!Finance for his latest movie Rampage, that if everything goes great, the Black Adam solo movie can go into production sometime next year.

“The script came in, it’s great, we’re working on it, If things come together in the way we anticipate them coming together, that feels like a 2019 movie.”

At the moment Black Adam doesn’t have a director or any other actors attached to it, but David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! is in production and that movie could very well be the reason a Black Adam movie solo movie can go into production by next year, as Black Adam is Shazam’s (Zachary Levi) archenemy in the comics, and we can only dream Dwayne Johnson has a cameo in the movie as Black Adam.

Johnson also goes on to say in the interview that they’re trying to nail the tone and make sure Black Adam is a badass in his solo movie, while also making sure to tie the movie to the properties within the DC movies.

“It’s this phenomenal opportunity for us to nail the tone and make sure he’s badass,” Johnson says of how he hopes to represent Black Adam onscreen. “Also we have intrinsic DNA tied to a lot of other properties in DC.”
