First Unofficial Look at Zachary Levi as Shazam

Unofficial photos of Zachary Levi, who’s playing the title character in David F. Sandberg’s Shazam have surfaced online. In these photos we get our first look at Levi in full costume, as the setting for the scene that being film takes place during Christmas, much like in the New 52 Shazam! Vol. 1 story.

Going by the what we can see of the suit, it’s clear they’re taking inspiration from Shazam’s look in the New 52, as his cape has a hood with it, which was first introduced in Shazam’s new for the DC Comics reboot.

Thus far the response to the suit has been mostly positive, with a few negative comments stating the suit looks too cartoonish and bright, even though Shazam has always been the lighter and funnier of the DC Comics characters in his run in the comics.

Shazam is set to be released in theaters on April 5th, 2019.
