Both Gotham and The Flash make the top 10 on Variety list of the Top 20 New Programs of 2014 by Ratings. The Flash made the list at #10 and Gotham came in at #2, being beaten out by the hit ABC television series How to Get Away With Murder.
10. The Flash (CW)
2.94 million adults 18-49; 5.99 million viewers overall — This spinoff from “Arrow” starring Grant Gustin as the speedy superhero crime-fighter character from the DC Comics, gave the network its first series since “The Vampire Diaries” in its early years to compete with the major broadcast networks in key demos. Its premiere in October ended up averaging 6.8 million viewers with seven days of DVR playback included, making it CW’s most-watched telecast ever.
2. Gotham (Fox)
5.43 million adults 18-49; 10.73 million viewers overall — Giving its network a much-needed shot in the arm, this Batman prequel opened big in September and has been one of the fall’s most consistent performers ever since. It is the season’s third biggest DVR gainer in 18-49 among broadcast dramas, lagging only “How to Get Away With Murder” and “The Blacklist,” and is the top-rated broadcast drama in men 18-34.
