Guillermo del Toro Updates on Justice League Dark

As we previous reported back in November that Guillermo del Toro confirmed via Forbes that he submitted the script for Justice League Dark to Warner Bros. he then commented again about the film in December and since then things fell silent.

Until yesterday thanks to IGN, who was able to get an update from Del Toro on the project.

“We turned in our [script] revision, and it all depends on the calendar, you know?” del Toro told IGN during a press event for his TV show The Strain today. “If I can do it, I would love to do it. And I think the screenplay and the characters are very solid.”

Del Toro went on to say that if his calendar simply doesn’t line up, “somebody will do it.” Considering the huge amount of commitment it takes to make a film in a shared universe, del Toro says it’s not that easy to commit to directing.

“You cannot say, ‘Yeah, I’ll do it after I do this,’ or ‘I have the first season of The Strain,'” said the filmmaker. “[Justice League Dark] needs to fall into the plan of the DC Universe.”

Awesome. Maybi anonce Wonder Con? Need 3 DC Movies yars! Justice League Dark, Batman solo, Superman solo and Teen Titans movie:)

Part of me wants DC to bump their film slate to 3 films a year (which could very well still happen, since JLD will happen, & the Vertigo film slate has yet to be announced), but I’m also worried about an already over crowded movie schedule, with the various Marvel franchises having as many as 5 films in one year, which could lead to super hero fatigue for some viewers.
But OTOH, DC’s diversity in tone & subject matter of their films, could prevent fatigue from happening. At least, that’s what I’m hopeful for.
