Jai Courtney who played Captain Boomerang in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, confirmed in an interview with Business Insider, while promoting his latest movie Storm Boy, that he will in fact be returning as the character in the sequel that’ll be written and directed by James Gunn currently titled The Suicide Squad, along with confirming that the movie will begin production in a few months.
“We’re getting ready to shoot in a few months’ time, there’s not much else I can reveal about it but, yeah, you’ll be seeing Boomerang back for sure.”
Even with the changes done to the director and cast, like David Ayer not returning as director or Will Smith in the role of Deadshot, Courtney is still happy to be returning to the role:
“I’m happy, it’s going to be fun, it will be different, for sure, but it’s going to be great.”
The Suicide Squad is set to release in theaters on August 6, 2021.
