According exclusively to Variety, Jared Leto’s Joker from David Ayer’s Suicide Squad will be receiving his own standalone by Warner Bros., who want to expand the world and characters from Suicide Squad.
As seen with Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, who’s rumored to appear be appearing in five movies within the DC Extended Universe, such as Birds of Prey, Suicide Squad 2, Gotham City Sirens and the untitled The Joker and Harley Quinn movie and now amusing this new Joker standalone.
Sources close to Variety say that Leto will not only star, but also be an executive producer, as Leto has made it no secret in interviews during the press junket for Suicide Squad that he enjoyed playing the character and wished he had more of a role in the movie itself.
This movie will completely separated from the previously announced Joker standalone origin from Todd Phillips, rumored starring Joaquin Phoenix, which isn’t known if it’s still in development or if it was ever as Warner Bros. never officially confirmed it.
