In a recent interview with Deadline, David S. Goyer had a lot to say in regards to his career in film and television, along with what he has in store for future projects.

One of many things to jump out at us from the article, was where Deadline refers to Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the director and star of Sandman, another was the quote from Goyer confirming that Neil Gaiman who’s the creator and writer of Sandman, as a vital part of the team behind the film as well.

Sandman, which Joseph Gordon-Levitt will direct and star in. He’ll produce with Goyer and involved as exec producer is Neil Gaiman, who created the classic comic that Jack Thorne is adapting. The story is a mix of horror and fantasy, and the central character is Morpheus, the personification of dreams who, after being held captive 70 years, escapes, gains revenge and rebuilds his crumbling kingdom. “I hesitate to definitively say when it might go before the cameras, but the one thing different between other iterations and ours is that Neil Gaiman has been in the room with us and is a vital part of the team,” Goyer said. “We have a draft Warners is very happy with and we’re moving forward, knock on wood.”

In regards to Gordon-Levitt starring in and directing the film, in the past Gordon-Levitt has denied the claims and has stated he’s only producing the film. Things could have changed since then, or Deadline could had possibly misunderstood.

Sandman has yet to receive an official release date.
