According exclusively to Variety, Rick Famuyiwa is zeroing in on Kiersey Clemons as the top choice for the female lead for The Flash.
Clemons is a familiar actress to Famuyiwa as she starred in his critically acclaimed film Dope, which makes sense why he would want her to return to his current higher profiled project, as he knows her working talent.
The character Clemons is said to be playing hasn’t been closed, but it’s being speculated to be Iris West, going by the fact it’s a female leading character and going by The CW hit television series The Flash, in which Iris in the series ethnicity was changed with her comic book counter part with the casting of Candice Patton.
If it true that Clemons is being eyed to play Iris, it make sense to continue the character’s ethnic change, as The CW series is one of the top watched comic book television shows on air, in hand Warner Bros. might not want to confuse the public by going more comic book accurate. Also the continue diversity in the DC Extended Universe is something to admire, not shun.
