Melissa Benoist On the First Time She Put On the Supergirl Costume

Melissa Benoist who plays Kara on the Supergirl television series that’s due to air in November of this year on CBS, spoke to E! on the CBS Upfront red carpet on her role, seeing herself for the first time fly in the pilot and how it felt to try on the Supergirl costume for the first time.

“I just had this injury so I had this eye patch on. It was kind of embarrassing,” Benoist tells E! News about the very first time she tried on her costume, designed by Colleen Atwood for the new CBS series. “But the second I put it on, something shifts inside of me. It’s kind of impossible not to feel strength and empowerment and positivity and hope. It really is pretty surreal.”
