According to BoxofficeMojo, The LEGO Batman Movie is tracking better than The LEGO Movie, for its Thursday night preview showing, with bringing in $2.2 Million for the night, compared to that of The LEGO Movie which brought in $400,000.
Even with such a low end opening for Thursday for The LEGO Movie, the film ended up opening with $69 million for the weekend. In the case ofThe LEGO Batman Movie, Boxofficemojo is forecasting for the film to open with $76 million this weekend.
WB’s The LEGO Batman Movie brought in $2.2 million from ~3,400 theaters from previews beginning at 5PM. This is just below the $8.6 million Monsters University kicked off its $82.4 million opening with and $500k better than Zootopia’s $1.7 million Thursday evening last year before it went on to open with $75 million. As for the first LEGO film, it brought in a mere $400,000 on Thursday night and went on to open with $69 million.
