English actor Robert Pattinson who was previously in the running and in talks to play Bruce Wayne/Batman a few weeks ago in Matt Reeves’s The Batman, but at the time Warner Bros. weren’t up to making a deal with Pattinson as we previously reported.
Warner Bros. has now approved of Pattinson as the Caped Crusader in the trilogy of films that’s set to take place, with the first installment begin production this year.
Pattinson was frontrunner from the beginning for director Matt Reeves, while Warner Bros. Studios were torn between Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max, X-men). At the moment Deadline reports that a deal hasn’t been officially been made, that negotiations will get underway any moment. As Pattinson will not only have to agree to star in the first installment, but also the two other movies that are set to made, for Reeves to have his Batman trilogy.
At this point it’s pretty much official that Pattinson will be our new Batman, with both the director and studio behind him for the role, it’ll only fall through if Pattinson himself decides to walks away from the role.
The Batman set to release in theaters on June 25, 2021.
