According to Variety, Jon Berg and Geoff Johns are being replaced by It and The Conjuring producer Walter Hamada. Hamada will now oversee the production of all the DC Films, the decision was made in December to replace Berg and Johns as the co-heads of DC Films.
The article does make a point to state that in the official announcement of Hamada’s hire, Johns will work closely with the new production president.
As part of a shakeup of its DC film operations, Warner Bros. is promoting Walter Hamadato oversee its comic book movies, Variety has learned. Insiders say that Hamada will essentially serve as president of production in charge of the DC movies. In December, the studio decided to replace Jon Berg and Geoff Johns as the heads of the DC movies. Berg became a production partner with Roy Lee, the producer of “The Lego Movie” and “It,” who has a deal on the lot. Johns remains at DC, but is taking on more of an advisory role.
Johns went on to express he’s happiness with the annoucement via Twitter, by Tweeting “Welcome aboard, Walter!! Thrilled to be working with you! It’s been a blast on Shazam! — now it’s off to the rest of the DCU!“. Confirming that Walter has already started he’s new position with Shazam!
