Warner Bros. and director James Wan are once again teaming up to develop another DC Comics property after the success of Aquaman and that’s a spin-off, rather than a direct sequel to the movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio and James Wan are developing a movie based off the Trench monsters from Aquaman.
The movie will be based on the kingdom of the monsters and it’ll be more of a horror movie than anything else, screen play writers Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald are set to pen the script while Wan and Peter Safran will produce the project, no director is officially attached to helm.
The movie will be titled The Trench, and it not feature any of the cast members from Aquaman, while it focuses on the inhabitants who were cut off and evolved into the trench monsters.
The Trench will have a smaller budget than all the previously DCEU movies, which has to be below Shazam! budget of $80-$90 million, which still stands as the lowest budgeted movie in the franchise.
