According to The Hollywood Reporter, director James Gunn who’s now in talks to direct The Suicide Squad, which is a soft reboot of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, that Warner Bros. gave Gunn pick of properties and that Superman was one of the movies that was included.

But according to the report Gunn didn’t get far enough with tackling Superman to seriously consider taking on the project. Though they do say that Gunn took a liking to Superman’s superpowered dog Krypto and it seems he was considering having him appear in his Superman movie if he were to make one.

The positive spin to this news that fans of Superman can take from it, is that Warner Bros. still has a Superman on their mind and hopefully this means a follow-up to Man of Steel is still in development.
