Zachary Levi who is offically playing Shazam the original Captain Marvel, now has his child counterpart for Billy Batson, in David F. Sandberg’s Shazam.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Asher Angel is now cast to plays Billy Batson, the young child who receives the powers of the Greek Gods that transforms him into the superhero Shazam.
The DC Entertainment superhero story centers on a boy named Billy Batson who can transform into an adult superhero by uttering the magic word “Shazam!” The name is an acronym of the ancient world gods and historical figures Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury, from which Batson derives his heroic attributes when in adult form. Levi is starring as Batson’s alter ego, the adult hero known as Captain Marvel.
DirectorDavid F. Sandberg confirmed the news by posting a photo of Zachary Levi posing with Asher Angel’s headshot in front of Sandberg’s Shazam wall, with the caption– “I was hoping to break the news about @asherdovangel last week with this photo but had to wait a bit”:
