Although there was a Bat-Girl in the form of Betty Kane, this version of Batgirl was one of the first to go from TV to comics, as opposed to comics to TV as the norm tends to be (Lex Luthor and certain elements of Superman’s powers came from adaptations as well).
Yvonne Craig’s portrayal was so popular that at one point William Dozier and 20th Century FOX thought about spinning her off onto her own series.
Rest in Peace and our condolences go to the family, both biological and Batfamily of this great actress.
