Batman and Robin Serial’s John Duncan Passes Away

John Bowen Duncan has sadly passed away at the age of 92 on February 8, 2016. The cause of death has not been released but it was announced he passed on with his wife by his side at his Florida home in Orlando.

For those unaware, John Duncan had played Dick Grayson/Robin in the live action serial Batman & Robin released in 1949. While the serial is considered cheap and campy to today’s audience, it was the pioneer to what would later be the William Dozier series with Adam West and Burt Ward.

The serial itself is something any Batman ans DC Comics fan should watch at least once to see how much the technology and care to the source material has progressed over the years.

John Duncan continued to show up at conventions well into his later years enjoying the popularity the superhero genre had gained since he donned the tights.

We here at DC Comics Movie send our condolences his family and friends.

My name is Eric and I am loving this current comic book boom, I was around for the first one with Superman: The Movie, Supergirl(being the first female and crossover film) and Batman and have been enjoying the resurgence since Blade. Can't express how much I cannot wait for WB & DC to take back the film universe but until than I love the TV shows we have gotten. I only started reading comics about 10 years ago but am connected more to DC over Marvel or any other major company. If you wanna chat feel free to contact me
