CBS Chairman Says Supergirl Has a Much Bigger, Broader Audience than Gotham

CBS Chairman Nina Tassler at the Television Critics Association panel for Supergirl, spoke on the choice to schedule Supergirl on the same time slot as Gotham, which airs on FOX on Mondays at 8:00pm.

“Well, I think that they’re different audiences,” said Tassler. “I think Supergirl has a much bigger, broader audience. It’s more family entertainment. And they look different, they feel different.” Tassler added, “We had 14.1 million streams of the [Supergirl] trailer. I don’t think anyone is worried about, ‘Oh my god, there’s not enough audience out there to watch both those shows.’ I think there will be.”

  • Am I the only one that finds it rather befuddling, that CBS put SG on at the same time, to compete against another DC show? I also can’t believe that WB didn’t protest it either (I’m sure they did).
It seems like CBS is looking at this as a competing network, rather than competing against the same brand. Especially since CBS & WB are partners. CBS would’ve lost nothing by moving SG to another timeslot, or even another day (heck, they coulda put SG on Tuesdays at 9pm, & had it compete with AOS!)
Granted, I plan to DVR & watch both shows, but for those that will be watching either/or, I really don’t want them be forced to choose. I want all of DC’s properties to be successful.

And ‘Gotham’ will still be the better show.
