It is important to know a bit about Martian Manhunter, who’s also known as J’onn J’onnz. For one, this is not his first live action appearance, he has appeared twice before.

In 1997 he was the leader of the Justice League of America, a pilot for a CBS television series that aired only once, he was played by David Ogden Stiers.

In that series it was discovered that he was watching over Clark since he first landed on Earth and it was only his current predicament that he decided to make himself known.

Now David Harewood, who has been playing Hank Henshaw on Supergirl, has been revealed to actually be Martian Manhunter, which if you have watched the series would come off as no surprise, since the signs have been there.

In the comics J’onn J’onnz was the last of his race of Martians, his family was killed and he ended up coming to Earth with the ability to change his form and become a Detective and cop, depending on which version you read or seen. He is also one of the original founders to the Justice League, a role many hope to see him take on in the new DC Extended Universe film.Image and video hosting by TinyPic

While he is a force to be reckoned with, being able to also go telepathic and make his image see through, he has a weakness to fire and often gets incapacitated because of this fear. He is also a huge lover of Oreo cookies, a detail Smallville was able to keep in.
