According exclusively to The Hollywood Reporter, director Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix will be reuniting for the second installment to the very successful Joker origin movie, that has grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office in under two months of being released in theaters worldwide.

Sources to The Hollywood Reporter also went on to say that on October 7th, Todd Phillips headed into Warner Bros. Pictures chairman Toby Emmerich’s office and went on to propose the idea of him developing a portfolio of DC Comics character’s origin movies.

This took place after the movie opened with the impressive $96.2 million domestically opening weekend. But according to the report, Phillips was only allowed to come out of the meeting with the rights to only one DC Comics origin story.

The report also goes on to say that Phillips will be teaming up with Scott Silver once again to pen the screenplay for the sequel. Warner Bros. nor anyone attached to Joker has officially confirmed this news, but it wouldn’t be a surprise that Joker will get a sequel, seeing how ridiculously well it did at the box office.
