Kate Bosworth Reflects on Superman Returns

Shares

In 2006 Superman Returns graced the silver screen, directed by Bryan Singer and starring Brandon Routh as the Man of Steel and Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane, while both are great actors in their own right, the film was essentially a retread of Superman: The Movie. The film suffered even more by linking itself to those films when the actors in those roles were much older.

Kate Bosworth was one who suffered the most due to this fact, playing Margot Kidder’s version, while also being 5 years older than those film took place.

Margot Kidder was around 28 when she played in the first two films, making the character Bosworth was playing around 33 or 34, which the actress herself was much younger and looked even younger than that.

Now Kate Bosworth opened up about her experience playing the role and how she feels now that she is a bit older.

ON PLAYING THE ROLE

“I was just a kid. I don’t know how interesting I was at 22, or how interesting any 22-year-old is!”

She grimaces and corrects herself. “I mean, I’m 34, I’m still young, but the more time you have on this planet the more confident you become, the more experience you’ve had to fill you out.”

HER LOVE FOR SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA AFTER FILMING

“You know, there are some characters you play that are dear to your heart, and I feel that way about Sydney. It was such a transformative time in my life. I really came into my own there and met people that became like family.”
