The Wrap has exclusively announced that a Man of Steel sequel is in fact in development over at Warner Bros. It’s being said that the sequel to the Zack Snyder’s film is a top priority over at the studio, as they are working to get the character’s next story just right.
Furthermore, it’s still has no release date in mind, but the source does say that the Batman solo film, which also doesn’t have a release date will be released first. The news is not yet confirmed by Warner Bros., but The Wrap is pretty legitimate with their news, which is why we feel comfortable in reporting on it.
Back when the DC Extended Universe slate of films were first announced both the solo Batman films and Man of Steel sequels were announced as being in early development, but they had no release dates, so it’s no surprise that we would get more information at some point.
Recently David Ayer, who directed Suicide Squad expressed his desire to direct a Man of Steel sequel, which would not be a bad thing either since he did a great job on Suicide Squad. Henry Cavill also expressed interest in playing the character for longer than he is already contracted too.
Warner Bros. does still have two untitled DC films with release dates with quite a few films in development other than the solo Batman film and the Man of Steel sequel, so chances are we won’t see Superman in his own solo film until after 2020.
