Kevin Smith released a new episode of his podcast Fatman on Batman in which he discusses the new book Dark Night: A True Batman Story for Vertigo Comics with the author Paul Dini.

Paul Dini has been involved in many projects such as He-Man & the Masters of the Universe and being a co-creator of the DC Animated Universe with Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski. Paul Dini was also a co-creator for Harley Quinn, in which Kevin Smith named his daughter after. In the video Paul discusses when he decided to write the story and how he was looking at Batman’s presence to the overall universe.

He also reveals that the incident happened during the writing process of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and almost left the project, which to many is one of the best films to feature Batman.

Kevin Smith does make a brief mention that Batman has never been featured in a Vertigo tile before.

Dark Night: A True Batman Story releases on June 21 and is available in hardcover on Amazon.
