Suicide Squad Nominated for an Oscar for Best Hair and Makeup Effects

We reported earlier this month that composer Steven Price was in the running to earn an Oscar for his score for Suicide Squad and now Suicide Squad has been officially nominated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for Best Make-Up and Hairstyles.

Suicide Squad used practical effects to keep the budget low and allowing for the actors to do with little interference of CGI effects and it worked very well.

January 7th is when the members of the Academy will be shown 10 minutes of each films best work, with three of the films being selected and featured in the 88th Academy Awards ceremony. This is huge as comic book films are generally forgotten at the Oscars, even less so by a film that was critically panned.

The nominees:

“The Dressmaker”
“Florence Foster Jenkins”
“Hail, Caesar!”
“A Man Called Ove”
“Star Trek Beyond”
“Suicide Squad”

My name is Eric and I am loving this current comic book boom, I was around for the first one with Superman: The Movie, Supergirl(being the first female and crossover film) and Batman and have been enjoying the resurgence since Blade. Can't express how much I cannot wait for WB & DC to take back the film universe but until than I love the TV shows we have gotten. I only started reading comics about 10 years ago but am connected more to DC over Marvel or any other major company. If you wanna chat feel free to contact me

Actually, the so called comic book movies were considered more important as movies back in the days, back when they were actual movies made by real filmmakers and not big budget tv episodes like some kind of movies of a specific studios. Back then, adaptations of comic book characters were Movies and they’ve also won a lot of awards, especially the DC movies. Just think about Richard Donner’s Superman, was nominated for three academy awards and won a fourth, Tim Burton’s Batman won an academy awards. Batman Returns was nominated for two academy awards, Batman Forever was nominated for three academy awards, Superman Returns was nominated for an academy award, Batman Begins was nominated for an academy award, The Dark Knight won two academy awards and was nominated for a total of eight academy awards.
Suicide Squad is art, based on substance, if people don’t think so, is about their opinions, facts are facts, opinions are useless. Subjects can only give subjective opinions. Facts are proven by the inner meanings of a substance. Why still pointed out the critics judgment? They are ordinary ignorants people who just says subjective statements, nothing more. Are people dependent of others? Is there free will, or something is right only if some specific people said so? Is this the world Hitler had dreamed of? Are people puppets in the hands of puppet masters? Seems like people don’t like to be free, they still searching for some one who can be a tyrant for them, just take a look at the history and at the president elected of November. I’m more surprised that a stupid superifical ignorant stuff, the first of the list, was considered. So making copycat is right? Making products with no sense is right? Making movies about stupid characters is right? The fact that a stupid character had success, mean that people are stupid? So many questions, no one smart enough to answer. That piece of crap of a thing exists? Well, I guess nothing has sense any more. There was a time where people with talent had made real movies. This days every recommended without talent can made a movie. What kind of level has reached this world? At this point, this kind of business has reached and scratched the extreme bottom, they are under the bottom, obviously. Industry is so broken, nothign will ever change. Period.
