Supergirl Heading to Vancouver, Canada

Supergirl maybe heading to Vancouver, Canada as Tom Cavanagh who plays Harrison Wells on The Flash, let it slip in a recent interview with Hollywood Today that Supergirl was moving to Vancouver, Canada.

Vancouver, Canada has been the home of many, if not all shows DC Comics television series that aired on The CW, which is why the shows tend to look similar. While Supergirl has had the same team backing them up as The Flash, the filming for the CBS series has occurs in California.

Now before jumping to assumption that Supergirl is being renewed for The CW, let’s also keep in mind it is possible this is a sign of the hinted story in which we can see Kara as Power Girl in an episode of The Flash. It’s also possible that Supergirl is moving to Vancouver for a production stand point, as it is cheaper to film there, than it is to film in the United States. If that is true, it shows CBS is really trying with the series but is also aware that they need to lower cost somehow for another season.

Supergirl has been a success on CBS, getting higher ratings than any other superhero series on network television and for a freshman season it became the network’s highest rated programming. The crossover episode with The Flash called “Worlds Finest” saw a rise in the ratings, proving there are huge number of fans from both series. We also know The CW President did have regrets on passing up the opportunity to create Supergirl on their network.

The series also goes up against Gotham, which airs on FOX. Factoring in that, competition and keeping its ratings steady, it leads us to believe its more of a financial move than it is a network move.
