According to The Hollywood Reporter, regardless what they previously reported, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins was only signed on for one film, though now with the film breaking records, the studio is looking to negotiate over the terms of doing a sequel.
The DC Extended Universe has been financially successful with each film breaking the $100 million dollar mark in their opening weekends, but it hasn’t had a critically successful film until Wonder Woman, so the studio hesitation to have Jenkins sign on to more than one likely allowed both parties to have a better working relationship.
Patty Jenkins made it clear that she loves the character and already has ideas in mind but would like to do a smaller film before getting back into that world again. Let’s hope Warner Bros. handles this well and we get a sequel directed by Jenkins.
