Suicide Squad director David Ayer admitted awhile ago that he feels he should have made The Joker the main villain in the film in an open letter, now he’s back on social media talking with fans on what he thought he should have done and addresses the rumor about an entire film’s worth of Joker scenes being deleted.
Ayer is returning to direct Gotham City Sirens, so the experience of Suicide Squad clearly was not a bad one for him.
This was only a toy concept. No wardrobe like this was created. https://t.co/L0PUAK47Yp

This was a pick up shot for the Harley introduction montage. There was no scene or dialogue. I needed a basket of visuals to introduce her. Same with the Joker stuff. There’s maybe a few minutes shot with Jared. There are not endless Joker scenes under guard somewhere. Sorry.

Yeah it was a big fun silly movie. It could have been a bigger success had I done it a little different. But it did great and made an impression.

Believe me. I agonize over this. Yes. Joker should have been main bad guy.
