Dwayne Johnson Promises Hope, Fun and Optimism in DC Extended Universe’s Future

Dwayne Johnson, who’s playing Black Adam, went to his Instagram to expressed his excitement for the future of the DC Extended Universe. He also speaks about the film’s will be more optimistic, hopeful and fun, a constant promise many filmmakers have talked about lately and how excited he is for us to meet Black Adam.

This follows a tweet made by producer Hiram Garcia, about a great discussion he had with those at Warner Bros. and a tease he made on big things coming soon.

Shazam is so far the only film that will be in the DC Extended Universe that will be released by New Line Cinema.

Geoff Johns, the Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics and one of the heads of the DC Extended Universe added his own opinion on the meeting.

My name is Eric and I am loving this current comic book boom, I was around for the first one with Superman: The Movie, Supergirl(being the first female and crossover film) and Batman and have been enjoying the resurgence since Blade. Can't express how much I cannot wait for WB & DC to take back the film universe but until than I love the TV shows we have gotten. I only started reading comics about 10 years ago but am connected more to DC over Marvel or any other major company. If you wanna chat feel free to contact me

I’m tired of the word fun. Do people knows what really means? Seems just an abused word. Something doesn’t need to be fun to be considered good, but can be defined stupid if is fun. The Godfather is fun? Shining is fun? Is Blade Runner fun? Is the Goodfellas fun? An horror movie is fun? A thriller movie is fun? A drama movie is fun? There are a lot of different genres, and most of them aren’t fun. Fun is more closer to stupidity and ignorance than quality and brain. Is fun the world in which we are living? Where terrorists killed hundreds of innocents without reasons? Is the concept of war a fun thing? Because the concept of war is a human creation, doesn’t exist in nature. So maybe is considered fun by the people, considering that people do and like only things that are fun. Everything related to evil and bad in general, is part of human creations and human behavior. Why people complain about a movie if is not fun, but they don’t do anything if this world is doomed by their own actions. Are most of the people so selfish and ignorants? People complain about fantasy, but maybe in their little minds they don’t realize that we live in the real world, not in a fantasy land. Just because shitty studios are making stupid comedies full of superficial jokes, doesn’t mean that every movie has to be like that. Comedy is ruining cinema. Stupid, useless, meaningless is now considered good? Stupid comedies made by hakcer who leaked materials are considered good? Is this world gone crazy? Useless stuff with bad words are considered fine? Well, I guess that, like a wise man said, universe is not the only infinite thing in our world, ignorance of people is also infinite. If this world is not fun, by their way to think, this world is bad? Not every people are fun, so most of the people are bad? Ignorants who criticize things are ignorants because they ignore, because they are hypocrites and they defend only what they like, even if what they like is wrong, and they criticize what they don’t like, even if what they don’t like is right. Good or bad is not about opinions, is about the matter of fact. A stupid thing is still stupid even if people likes that stupid thing. The fact that something fun or stupid is liked by people, doesn’t mean that the stuff is good, but could means that those people are stupid. Maybe one day, in the future, someone will understand.

  • Hmm.

I am also concerned about the use of the term “fun”. It implies that the previous 3 movies were not fun. Something I vehemently disagree with. Meaning that I found they had great entertainment value.

I’m okay with optimism, not that I feel the previous filmed were totally lacking in it. The thing is, these aren’t just self-contained stories. Each movie is a chapter. It’s okay to have a dark chapter that doesn’t feel overly optimistic. In fact, good story structure requires it.
