James Wan as we reported before, Wan was opened to directing a possible New Line or Warner Bros. fronted DC film. With his recent work with Dwayne Johnson on Furious 7 and The Rock’s wanting to get Wan onboard to direct another film with him, the idea of Shazam was thrown around, but it looks like Warner Bros. may have a different hero in mind for Wan, the hero? Aquaman.
According to The Hollywood Reporter sources tell them that Warner Bros. is very much looking at James Wan to direct Jason Momoa in the first live action solo film of the King of the Seven Seas.
If true this may cause some scheduling issues as Universal is apparently keen on getting him back for Furious 8, he is already signed up for The Conjuring 2 for New Line and Warner Bros. With Warner Bros. hard at work to get a script out by hiring multiple writers they maybe forced to go elsewhere.
While I was looking forward to him directing Shazam this could be a great project for him. Keep in mind if prior commitments keep this from happening it could still happen that he directs Shazam and that is a win-win situation.
