According to The Wrap, actor Mark Strong who’s best known for DC Comics fans as Sinestro in 2011’s Green Lantern, starring Ryan Reynolds is in talks to play the villain Doctor Sivana in David Sandberg’s Shazam. This news comes just days after Zachary Levi was announced to be officially cast as the title character of Shazam.
In the comics, Doctor Sivana is known as archenemy and most frequent foe to Shazam, even above that to Black Adam.
Doctor Sivana who’s a brilliant evil mastermind, was first introduced in Whiz Comics #2 in February 1940, five years prior to Black Adam in December 1945. Sivana continued to appear in many Captain Marvel comics throughout the years, appearing in New 52 Shazam issue, in which he awakens Black Adam from his tomb and forms an alliance with him.
We can only speculate that be might the storyline that’ll take place in this upcoming live action film, leading to the Black Adam standalone movie starring Dwayne Johnson as the title character.
New Line Cinema or anyone directly attached to the film have yet to confirm this possible casting, so at this point take it with a grain of salt until officially announced.
