It’s been announced that Matt Ryan will return to the role of John Constantine in this new season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, this follows his return to the role in animated form for Constantine series that will be streaming on CW Seed.

Arrow established that the Constantine series that aired on NBC took place in the same world as The CW Universe when he appeared in an episode of Arrow, where he resurrect Sarah Lance.

Rotten Tomatoes spoke with Phil Klemmer, the show-runner for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow about what they doing this new season and that is where he mentions the reprisal.

We get Billy Zane and the circus [in the second episode]; we get a little Julius Caesar on the beach in Aruba in the premiere. We meet [new team member] Zari in this sort of dystopian future. We get to do a little Amblin alien episode back in the ’80s; we do some Jack the Ripper Victorian London; Golden Age of Hollywood; John Constantine doing an exorcism. We do a Freaky Friday episode. The only thing we haven’t been able to do: We really wanted to do an Abba “Waterloo” in then Napoleonic wars but we could not get the rights for the song.

No word on when this episode will occur or when the time period will be when we meet up with John Constantine. There is still the cliffhanger the NBC series left us on that they can resolve. It does sound like it could be another one-off appearance, but better than nothing.
