Matt Ryan Talks On His Arrow Appearance

Shares

Matt Ryan has given us a terrific John Constantine on the NBC’s Constantine and despite a cancellation will be returning in the role on the upcoming Arrow episode “Haunted” and TVGuide was able to catch up to him for a discussion on his return.

ON WHAT MADE HIS APPEARANCE POSSIBLE

“They moved heaven and Earth to get me here,” Ryan told TV Guide. “I was starting rehearsals for a play with Keira Knightley in New York on the first of September. And originally, where the episode sat in the season, I wouldn’t have been able to do it because of my schedule. But everybody just pulled together and moved some things around and really made it work.”

ON HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH OLIVER QUEEN

“There is not much that I can say about the plot,” Ryan offered, but does reveal Oliver calls on him. “There’s a little history between them… I would not say that they are friends. I would say that they are acquaintances who have a past. John owes him.”

ON TEAM ARROW AND THE SUPERNATURAL

Team Arrow isn’t prepared for the supernatural issues Sara is going through, nor are they prepared for the cocky attitude from her chain-smoking savior. “John knows there are worlds beyond our world, and he is used to dealing with these things on a day-to-day basis,” he explained. “So bringing him into a scenario with a group of people who have never witnessed anything like this is just fascinating. And John is an arrogant bugger too, so they are a little thrown off by him. You know, he’s the guy who will give the finger to the devil. So you have this arrogant, trench coat-wearing guy… and Oliver Queen. It’s great!”

My name is Eric and I am loving this current comic book boom, I was around for the first one with Superman: The Movie, Supergirl(being the first female and crossover film) and Batman and have been enjoying the resurgence since Blade. Can't express how much I cannot wait for WB & DC to take back the film universe but until than I love the TV shows we have gotten. I only started reading comics about 10 years ago but am connected more to DC over Marvel or any other major company. If you wanna chat feel free to contact me
