Justin Kroll of Variety tweeted on his social media that Suicide Squad 2 may not go into production until Fall 2018 at the earliest. He says that it’s because Will Smith has two projects that will make him unavailable before that time.
Kroll also mentions that this leaves the Joker and Harley Quinn film, which Warner Bros. hasn’t confirmed is in development, will go into question if it’ll actually happen.
If that film doesn't even go in to production till late 2018, when exactly would this HARLEY-JOKER spin-off happen.

It's just something to think about when people ask the likelihood of that film happening anytime soon

Keep in mind Justin Kroll posted this on his Twitter and not on one of his Variety articles, he may not have all the facts lined up, so until he does take this with a grain of salt.
