Suicide Squad Tops The Box Office For A Third Weekend

Suicide Squad continues to dominate the box office as it has stayed at the #1 spot for the third weekend in a row. This would mark the first DC Extended Universe film to do so.

Suicide Squad in its third weekend managed to snag another $20.7 million dollars, dropping at 52.7%, and bringing the worldwide total at $572.6 million. For a film of this genre, the first two weeks are often the highest, as the fan base are the first to see the film as soon as possible, with repeat business.

Despite the drop, Suicide Squad has managed to beat the Domestic Gross of Captain America: Winter Soldier ($259.7 million) and Ant-Man ($180.2 Million) with $262.2 million and counting. It’s also on its way to beat the domestic box office of Guardians of the Galaxy at $333.1 million within the next couple of weeks.

Keep in mind that Guardians of the Galaxy was in theaters for an unusually long time at three months, with also a China release, helping its worldwide number, meanwhile Suicide Squad is likely to not be released in China, so its worldwide numbers are quite impressive, as it stands at the moment with $310.4 million and still has to be released in Japan, on September 10th.
